Entered Apprentices

October 14, 2009 Mount Vernon Lodge No. 8 worked the Entered Apprentice Degree on three new candidates.
Isaac Merriam, 18, of Elmore, a 2009 Graduate of Peoples Academy High School in Morrisville and newest member to achieve the honored rank of Eagle Scout from Troop 876 in Morrisville. Isaac has enlisted with the USMC and will ship-out in January of 2010. Nathan Baker, son of Bryan Baker, a member of Mount Vernon, and William Coslett, 89, of Morrisville. William said one of his biggest regrets was not becoming a Freemason. His father, uncles and grandfather were all Masons and he decided it was high time he joined. He noticed a Masonic Vermont license plate and inquired of the owner, Dan Sweet, his interest in joining the fraternity. Sweet of Barton directed him to Mt. Vernon. Mr. Sweet was in attendance for the E.A. Degree as were R.W.G.S.W. Roger L. Crouse and R.W.D.D. Ed Andrus. The 3rd Degree is scheduled for December 15th at Mt. Vernon with a potluck supper at 6:00 p.m.
